Japanese people rejoice as the change of season approaches. Springtime, a season celebrated across Japan is a time for new life.
The beauty of Spring reveals a change of air, a softness, the delicate sweet fragrances of the season come to life. It is an upward movement, announced via the arrival of the Cherry Blossom, ‘Sakura’.
I walked through parks, along canals, stopping to enjoy a picnic ‘Hanami’ under the cherry blossoms. I found my way along a bridge early one morning to reflect upon an umbrella of soft pink, the beauty of tiny buds forming masses of loosely draped blossom.
Spring is the season for new beginnings, awakening and growth. It makes us feel alive, an uprising of energy and expansion. Clarity, creativity and inspiration moves insight to form decisions. Our hopes and dreams come to life.
It is nature at its best, life revealed through nature, contrasted by a backdrop, a juxtaposition of the built environment.
Spring is a visual time of year. We see its beauty relieved that the barren Winter has passed. The beauty of Sakura leaves forms joyful impressions, captured by our imagination to envision the creation of possibilities.
The blossoms live briefly until they slowly and gracefully fall to the ground, released. This year the cherry blossom season came early to bless us. It came and went quickly, a snapshot in time. Suddenly and how quickly the season changes emerge. Birth and mortality come to mind.
‘Sakura’ season points to a time of visual joy, whilst knowing the transience of life.
