On 4 February 2019 ANZCCJ member Diana Green hosted a workshop – “Thinking Outside the Corporate Mindset”. In this session participants appreciated the opportunity to develop a new methodology for generating fresh approaches to challenges that occur in a business context. A practical application for this would be as an ice breaker in new project teams. Diana shared how to work with others from diverse backgrounds. One participant commented that because their office was so traditional and structured, it would be great to engage with this way of working to keep things fresh in their current environment.

The creative activity side of the event involved people working with paper and pastels to explore the “marks they made”, this revealed to each participant their ability to create and discover through visuals and words, which enabled people to start a process of co-creation and collaborative thinking in a natural and fun way. They all arrived at resolving a new way to work, opening in depth conversations which promoted different outcomes, therefore using creation as a method to activate ideas and challenge the questions they faced.

This workshop is about interacting in a group, encouraging open ideas and inquisitive thinking. The workshop involves brainstorming, self-reflection, co-creation, coaching and drawing/art together. The ultimate aim of the workshop is to generate meaningful answers to complex stories that occur in the professional workplace. By engaging with both ‘thinking’ and ‘feeling’, this event provides attendees with new skills and insights that will assist in the management of their businesses.

As an Artist, Designer and Educator Diana Green has over 25 years’ experience working with individuals, organisations and trans-disciplinary business teams (cross functional). Her experience covers manufacturing, service, publishing, infrastructure, finance and legal.
