Rapid industrialization first began in Britain, it took place from about 1760 to roughly 1840. Commencing with mechanized spinning in the 1780s, with high rates of growth in steam power and iron production occurring after 1800.
This was a time where manual labour was replaced by machines. People moved away from working at home to work in small workshops and later in factories.
Prior to the Industrial Revolution people worked in dreadful conditions, they were poor. However, as the 1900’s progressed, life style and conditions changed, work conditions improved due to the invent of the electric lamp which re-organized the work day.
This was the era, of new machinery developments, where products were produced on what was call a process line – a production line. A lineal framework with people placed at each stage or section to check or add another part to the product being produced.
Technological advances in the 20th Century exposed us to efficient ways of producing with intention to further improve work and personal life. Has the human element, our approach to each other on the planet evolved to equip us in the increasingly fast pace of the 21st Century?
